Can cannabis kill you?
While cannabis (marijuana) has the potential to cause harmful effects, it is unlikely to cause death when used in typical recreational or medicinal doses. There has never been a recorded case of a fatal overdose from cannabis use alone.
However, it’s important to note that cannabis can have adverse effects on some individuals, particularly those with certain medical conditions or who are taking certain medications. Additionally, high doses of cannabis can cause unpleasant side effects such as nausea, dizziness, paranoia, and increased heart rate. In rare cases, cannabis use can trigger psychotic episodes in individuals with a history of mental illness.
It’s also worth noting that consuming cannabis in combination with other substances, such as alcohol or prescription drugs, can increase the risk of harmful side effects and potentially even death. Driving or operating heavy machinery while under the influence of cannabis can also be dangerous and potentially fatal.
Overall, while cannabis is not considered to be lethal in typical doses, it’s important to use it responsibly and be aware of the potential risks and side effects. If you have any concerns about using cannabis or its potential effects on your health, it’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider.
